Paklenica. After meeting the drivers we set off to the
canyon of the |

river Zrmanja. We drive to the place where the movie
“Winetou“ was shot with a beautiful view of the river
Zrmanja. |

The winding river and the almost 400m deep canyon united
to the sea are a breathtaking sight. Then it’s time for
the |
|
morning coffee or a soda, a half-hour stay and after that
we drive through the south Velebit to a large valley.
|
|
We stop in the valley and walk for a half an hour to the
260m deep pit called Mamut. After that we go back to the
valley to |
|
have lunch. |
|
After lunch we continue the drive and cross over to the
north side of Velebit, we drive for an hour and a half to
the pass |
|
Alan which offers a magnificent view of the Velebit
channel. |

During summer we visit the Zrmanja falls where we enjoy
bathing. |

CAVING |
|
The village Modriæ and the
cave of the same name are located near the National park
Paklenica. |
|
The cave was discovered in
the eighties and up to 2004 it was closed for tourists.
Even today the visit to the cave isn’t a |

typical tourist visit since
there are no steps, paths or lighting. |
|
It is necessary to wear
overalls and a helmet with acetylene lamp to walk freely
around the cave. With this equipment we |
|
take you through the halls,
corridors and cleft sticks of the
840m
long cave full of stalactites and stalagmites.

The cave temperature is
always 13 ºC. |
